Nicky Jam To Be The Special Achievement Honoree At The Second Edition Of Premios Tu Música Urbano, To Take Place March 5th in Puerto Rico
San Juan, Puerto Rico (Wednesday, January 15) - Premios Tu Música Urbano, the first award show created to specifically celebrate Latin Urban music, announced today that Nicky Jam will be recognized as this year’s Special Achievement honoree at the Award’s second edition taking place on March 5, 2020 at Puerto Rico’s Puerto Rico’s Coliseum José Miguel Agrelot. The chart-topping superstar from Puerto Rico will be honored for his impressive career beginning as one of the early pioneers of Reggaeton, through to his current multi-platinum success and great influence and support for a new generation of artists.

The critically-praised first ceremony of Premios Tu Musica Urbano took place last year, and attracted millions of viewers across Latin America and The United States with genre legend Daddy Yankee as the first special honoree. Early in their careers Daddy Yankee and Nicky Jam also worked as a hit duo under the name of “Los Cangris,” so it is extra appropriate that Nicky Jam now becomes the second Premios Tu Musica Urbano special honoree just as the pair have reunited 20 years later to release a new “Los Cangris” track entitled “Muévelo” earlier this week (Jan 7).
On January 17, Nicky will also celebrate the release of the soundtrack from the highly-anticipated Sony Pictures movie “Bad Boys For Life” were the Puerto Rican singer guest stars alongside Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. This is the second time Nicky collaborates with will Smith after joining forces for the official song of the2019 Fifa World Cup “Live It Up”.
With its strong roots in Puerto Rico, Urbano has grown to lead a renewed global embrace of Latin music, with the unique Urban Tropical sounds of Reggaeton, Latin rap, trap and more now dominating streaming and download platforms around the world, and making the genre’s stars among the most sought after collaborators in the world.
This past December 14, Puerto Rico’s Coliseum José Miguel Agrelot was the site once again for the announcement of the Second Annual Premos Tu Musica nominations celebrating the genre – with Bad Bunny leading the field with 19, and other key nominees including: Anuel AA (18), Daddy Yankee (16), J Balvin (16), Ozuna (15), Karol G (8), Nicky Jam (8), and many more. The public will also be able to vote in three categories: Concert of the Year, Song of the Year, and Humanitarian of the Year.
On March 5th, 2020 Urbano fans from across the world will converge back to the same venue in Puerto Rico as the second edition of Premios Tu Musica Urbano will be a key tourism driver for the recovering Island – with millions of additional viewers tuning in again through the broadcast of Telemundo Puerto Rico.
